It's talk to cement the idea that apostasy is the Devil's work and make sure the flock want nothing to do with apostates. It is part of programming which puts the WTBTS in a divinely favoured light. It's drip,drip "We are right and others are always wrong, black and white, no tonal nuance, do what we say or else and don't question it" mentality.
In fairyland anything can be believed to be real.
so here an update on my current situation, in a nutshell i've been trying to quietly fade for the past 5 months.. well, my mom somehow found out that i am currently fading and that i live with my boyfriend (for more info on this check my previous posts) i told her yes i live with him and yes i no longer want to be a jw.
anyways, yesterday she met my boyfriend.. awkward.
and after lunch she pulled me aside to tell me that the po came up to her (he was part of my jc when i was reproved) he said to her "someone came to me and said - i cannot say who so they will remain anonymous- but that your daughter is living with someone" my mom confirmed and apparently he told her that i have one week to confess this, and if i don't my parents are obligated to tell them everything.. what kind of nonsense is that?
Or you could reassure your family that you love them very much (telling them you are your own person now) ignore everything which might come to you from the JW cult and take great pride in your decision to have nothing further to do with them.
Of course we all understand the situation is very difficult at the moment for you. What is at stake is your happiness and the freedom to have the choice in doing what you want to do. This is not selfish, this freedom is our birthright which others in the name of God or family want to steal away from us.

i think how much emphasis this puts on "loyalty" shows their is an issue.
they're trying to plug the wholes as much and quickly as possible.
if you were to read the watchtower literature and you believed it to be the exclusive divinely inspired interpretation of the bible, i suggest that you would not be learning anything useful, instead you would simply be absorbing the indoctrination of the jw org..

take any passage from the watchtower this sentence for example which assumes significance in the end of six thousand years of human history in 1975: “how then does this fit in with god’s timetable?”.
I'm sure you are Ucantnome but I only grew up when I was about forty when I left behind the infantile beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses. So I apologise if I was projecting my own immaturity on others.
However I would maintain that mentally bright JWs are foolish and juvenile to allow their emotional/ religious life trump scientific truth. We should marshal our emotions and knowledge after knowing first what is actually true, not base our lives on Bible stories as taught by cult leaders.

@Ucantnome, JWs for the most part are not stupid but they are deceived or deluded.
Religion appeals to the emotional aspects of our being often at the expense of the logical. Humans can find emotional drives more powerful than any knowledge of the cosmos which might seem detached or merely abstract... but our feelings are what we live with and what we colour the world with.
It takes some growing up to step outside of a purely emotionally driven life.

anyways today i'm sitting here at work and thinking to myself about demons... ok i know this sounds crazy but has anyone else out there been traumatized by the thought of demons?
i had a dream the other night, just flat out spooky and i woke and couldn't help but feeling it may have been evil ole' satan and his demons at it again.. i don't want to believe that, (trying not to, & just brushing it under the rug so to speak) but have any of you out there been talked up about demons?

The threat of a devil and demons is a fantastic way to get people to conform to a religious doctrine. The JW org play this card all the time. If you don't do what we say you are pleasing Satan... This is so childish, so black and white! Real life is not like this.
JWs and the early christ sects for that matter, made just the same warnings. It's a psychological trick, as they say: talk of the devil and he bound to appear.
Once a person researches cult religion and its mind control, it becomes apparent that these infantile methods work on the people who do concern themselves with the devil, those who have been held back in their education and natural development. Mature humans don't worry about invisible spirits unprovable fears and threats from another dimension, the real world has enough to worry about!...but our unfounded fears can be conquered.
Life is better than you think once you have shaken off the Watchtower mindset.
